Upcoming 2026 Compass Clergy Retirement Plan

In May 2024, the General Conference voted to establish a new mandatory account-based retirement plan for U.S. clergy, named COMPASS, which will commence on January 1, 2026. As a result, the Clergy Retirement Security Plan (CRSP) will sunset on December 31, 2025, after 19 years, becoming the predecessor plan. Rest assured, all benefits earned under CRSP will be preserved, ensuring clergy retain all their accrued benefits.

To stay informed about COMPASS, please:

  • Open mailers sent to your homes
  • Attend the 2025 Annual Conference Listening Sessions
  • Participate in the 2025 Annual Conference
  • Carefully read the 2026 Book of Reports

We are excited about the implementation of the COMPASS plan and believe clergy will find its features more flexible, sustainable, and affordable. This plan reflects our continued shared commitment from churches and aligns with our values on equity.
