Global Prayer Calendar

The West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church supports a wide variety of mission partners, both local and global, in advancing our common mission to 'make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.' Each month, we will join together in praying for our siblings doing mission and ministry around the world.

November: D.R. Congo

The North Katanga Episcopal Area has been one of the largest and fastest growing in The United Methodist Church. One reason is the church’s investment in local communities, particularly in the areas of medical care, education, farming, and caring for youth. In isolated areas of the Congo, the inaccessibility of medical care often complicates treatment for those who are ill. The United Methodist Church has built clinics and hospitals to offer compassionate care, and also maintains an aviation ministry to ferry seriously ill patients to larger cities. The Church has built schools to provide affordable education to students of all ages, and the Kamina Children’s Home cares for youth who were orphaned during the country’s civil war. At Kamisamba Farm, a training program helps local farmers learn sustainable farming practices, while also growing produce and raising livestock that can help feed local communities. With all it is doing in God’s name, it’s no wonder The United Methodist Church in North Katanga is growing!

This month, please pray for:

  • Week 1: The doctors and nurses caring for people through United Methodist hospitals and clinics.
  • Week 2: Wings of the Morning aviation ministry, as it transports critically ill patients.
  • Week 3: The youth of the Kamina Children’s Home as they attend college, start small businesses, and learn to become independent.
  • Week 4: Kamisamba Farm to continue to thrive, teaching more farmers how to grow food in sustainable ways.

Never doubt that your prayers make a difference!
