Bishop Hee-Soo Jung has invited Mark Miller to serve as the worship leader of this year's annual conference. Mark is Professor of Church Music and Composer In Residence at Drew University in Madison, NJ. He is Lecturer in Sacred Music at Yale’s Institute of Sacred Music and Divinity School and is also Minister of Music at Christ Church in Summit, a UCC and American Baptist congregation.

He spends a portion of the year traveling the country, at times with his band S2C (Subject to Change), leading worship and workshops, preaching and presenting concerts.  In May of 2025, Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis will award him the degree, Doctor of Divinity, honoris causa, for his decades of leadership in sacred music and the church.

Mark is the grandson, son, brother, uncle, and cousin to United Methodist clergy and has served on the General Commissions for the Status and Role of Women, Christian Unity and Interreligious Concerns, and was a lay delegate to the 2000, 2004, and 2012 General Conferences. He was Director of Music for the 2008 General Conference.

A graduate of Julliard (M.Mus. in Organ Performance) and Yale University (B.A. Music) Mark was Assistant Organist and Music Associate at The Riverside Church from 1999-2001 and Director of Contemporary Worship at Marble Collegiate Church from 2002-2007, both in the city of New York.

Mark believes that everyone is a child of God and that music can heal the world.  He adheres to Cornel West’s belief that “Justice is what love looks like in public” and is committed to using his gifts of music to advocate for social change and help create beloved community.

Mark and his band, SBC, will work alongside the West Ohio Annual Conference Worship Team to provide a variety of worship experiences throughout the event.

When he’s not working, Mark lives in Plainfield, NJ, with his husband of 30 years, Michael Murden. They have two grown children, Alyse and Keith, and a 5-month-old grandson, Jabari. Their cat, Harriet, rules their home.
