INCLUSIVE BODY OF CHRIST
Scripture Focus: Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Our Vision is to have every congregation and the leadership in the West Ohio Conference represent the demographics of our Conference.
Our Mission: To find authentic ways to incorporate and integrate the voice, experience and perspectives of all people into our central identity.
Five Focus Areas:
· Monitoring –the goal that monitoring becomes an ongoing and common practice and awareness in the life of the West Ohio Conference.
· Training and Embodying – goal to increase the number of ethnic people in congregations and within the leadership of the Conference; and embody the values and principles of diversity and inclusion across our conference through inclusivity training.
· Persons with Disabilities – the goal for congregations to become centers of hospitality and faith forming relationships with people with disabilities.
· Appalachian Ministry – the goal is to bring the gifts and needs of Appalachian Ohio into the center of our conference
· Multi Ethnic and Multi Cultural Ministries – the goal is to assure the voice of marginalized people is heard at all levels of our conference; and the work of the following groups will be carried out in this team: COSROW, Religion and Race, Urban Ministry, Intergenerational Ministries, Hispanic/Latino Ministries, Cross Racial and Cross Cultural Appointments
First Year Goals: Teams will be developed in each of the five focus areas to begin implementation the sub goals and Communication plans will be developed to assure that the diversity of our conference is incorporated into every work area.
